Why do university innovation centers lack student engagement and how do we ignite it? Veda Gerasimek (Entrepreneurship student at CMU and Founder of the Maverick I.D.E.A. Society) thinks the issue is simpler than it seems, and lies in a basic disconnect between the design of these centers and the needs of the target audience. For example, why call them "innovation" centers when almost no students think they're “innovating?” With support of the Colorado Universities Innovation Council (CUIC), she hopes to engage everyone with an interest in supporting student entrepreneurship and strengthening campus-community relationships in an actionable way.
